Barbara DeNormandie is a Distance Learning student in the William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education of The Jewish Theological Seminary and is spending the fall semester working on her master's degree in Jewish Education. Barbara has been teaching in synagogue-based educational settings for eleven years and directed the Congregation Kol Shalom Religious School located on Bainbridge Island, Washington, where she currently makes her home. She most recently served as the director of Programming and Adult Education and the Kitah Hey instructor at Congregation Beth Shalom in Seattle. Prior to her career in Jewish education, Barbara spent many years volunteering in educational, choral, publishing, and community organizations. She also worked for IBM as a systems engineer for ten years. Barbara enjoys traveling, cooking, singing, and writing.
