Portraits of Israel

History is not a black-and-white picture but rather subjective facts that are composed of different perspectives. The students will be looking at the State of Israel's history in vivid and colorful portraits. The class will be a journey starting with 1948 and continuing to today. Through lively discussions, movie clips, and projects, we will encounter different historical events in Israel through the following, differing lenses: Israeli women, Sephardi and Ashkenazi communities, minorities, new immigrants, personalities, key figures, and population trends. The main purpose of the class is to open the students' horizons to understanding the parts that constitute the State of Israel as a whole.
