"The Jewish-Israeli Attitude Toward the Arabic Language, From the Nineteenth Century to the Present" will be the focus of a discussion with Dr. Shlomit Shraybom-Shivtiel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30. Sponsored by the Hebrew Department of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), the program will take place at JTS, 3080 Broadway (at 122nd Street), New York City.
In a presentation on this rarely discussed topic, Dr. Shraybom-Shivtiel will examine the Israeli cultural-linguistic point of view as a reflection of historical changes in the region. Dr. Shraybom-Shivtiel taught at Bar-Ilan University in Israel for over thirty years. She is an academic consultant for the training of Arabic teachers at Kaye Academic College in Be'er Sheva.
