Dr. David Fishman, professor of Jewish History, has been selected as a member of the Academic Committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. The committee is a core group of the world's leading scholars on the Holocaust, and makes recommendations on the publications and programming of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Dr. Fishman was nominated for his work as director of Project Judaica, JTS's program in the former Soviet Union that is based at Russian State University for the Humanities in Moscow, and its Jewish Archival Survey (JAS) project. The JAS has brought to light hundreds of archival collections with documentation on the Holocaust in Russia and Ukraine, which contain thousands of previously unknown documents.
