Biographical Note

Rabbi Nathan Reisner graduated from the Rabbinical School of the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1949.

Collection Description

Included are Rabbi Nathan Reisner's lecture notes, reading lists, and other class materials (some with his annotations) accumulated while he was a rabbinical student at The Jewish Theological Seminary, 1941-1949. Copies of typed lectures on Jewish history distributed by Professor Alexander Marx make up about two thirds of the collection. In addition to Marx, Reisner's professors - represented by notes here - were: Salo Baron, Boaz Cohen, Moshe Davis, H.L. Ginsberg, Louis Ginzberg, Robert Gordis, Abraham S. Halkin, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Mordecai Kaplan, Shalom Spiegel, Paul Tillich of Union Theological Seminary, and professors Larsen, Mendelsohn, and [Benzion?] Netanyahu.
