Education Rotation

This rotation offers a wide variety of potential placements. Please contact the coordinator of Field Education to propose a setting for this rotation.

Potential Settings for the Education Rotation

  • For students entering The Rabbinical School beginning in fall 2006, the education rotation will be fulfilled by enrolling in EDU 5475, the practicum component connected to EDU 5031 (Skills for Teaching). Students must complete at least forty hours of teaching, observation, and preparation throughout the semester (which comes to approximately three hours a week). For specifications about seeking appropriate placements for EDU 5475, please click here.
  • For students who entered The Rabbinical School prior to fall 2006, all teaching of afternoon religious school or adult education counts, provided substantial supervision was provided on site.
  • Students who work at Camp Ramah must work as a teacher in the Yahadut program or as Rosh Hinukh and be supervised by the camp director. Other positions at Ramah would not necessarily fulfill the education rotation. Please note that a single summer cannot be used to fulfill both the education rotation and the independent Ramah rotation. For more information, please visit Camp Ramah.
