Chancellor Eisen: Giving Thanks for Israel

“Tomorrow I’ll say Hallel to mark Israel’s 69th birthday. Some ask how I can give thanks to God for Israel despite injustices and inadequacies that I too have criticized on occasion. The answer: on other days I can explore Israel’s politics and policies with appropriate complexity. On this day, however, I focus on the many reasons Israel has given all Jews, and me personally, for thanksgiving.”
