Dear Reader,

This year I had the amazing privilege of being the Editor-in-Chief of the List College Newsletter. Dean Perten and I worked tirelessly over both semesters to brainstorm, write, and refine a publication that focused on different ways current and former List College students give back to their communities.

Any person would agree that this year was difficult for everyone, especially for current students on campus. Within List College, students have all coped in different ways, and the community supports its students who have been courageous enough to speak up and advocate for their beliefs.

With everyone going on, I was faced with the editorial decision of including a student perspective focusing on what it was like to be on campus this year. I recognize that it was emotionally and physically draining for many students but am proud of myself and fellow peers for standing up for what we believe in, against the ignorant beliefs that gradually consumed campus. With that in mind, I wanted this edition to focus on something more positive to remind the community of the light List College students and alumni bring into the world. The student profiles share how two current members of the community volunteered over the summer of 2023, and what they learned from those experiences. The alumni accounts check in with former students and how being at List College led them to their respective careers.

When reading this, I hope you can still come to see the good and be reminded of the supportive and loving community made up of List College students, professors, and staff. Read each account carefully and with focus, to learn not only about the peers inside your classroom, but also how their experiences could be your own and encourage you to give back to the community in your own way.

With much care and appreciation,

Ilana Goldstein, Double Degree, ‘26
