Help Us Advance Our Spaces Campaign on Giving Tuesday

Posted on Nov 20, 2024

This Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2024, please make a gift to our Creating New Spaces Campaign and help us complete this worthy special project.

We know you care deeply about Jewish education and the future of Conservative/Masorti Judaism. A donation to our Spaces campaign will help fortify the future of the Jewish people. Your gift will enable our two important projects to enhance education for students at the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies and pave the way toward their service to Jewish communities. ·

U.S. donors: please contribute here (opt for Torah Fund Creating New Spaces Campaign).

Canadian donors: please make a contribution on our ecards platform (minimum C$5 purchase).

Creating New Spaces provides nurturing physical and spiritual spaces for our students and next-generation Jewish leaders through two significant initiatives:

  • The Women’s League Study Space in the new JTS Undergraduate Residence Hall, part of the state-of-the-art campus renovation designed by world-renowned architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien. This environment-friendly area hosts new technology, an essential element in higher education, and provides access for people with disabilities, well-equipped kitchen facilities, and sections for students to study and socialize.
  • The Women’s League Institute on Gender Bias and Harassment, a ground-breaking special course of training at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. A safe space for discussion of these topics, this forum helps students identify instances of bias and harassment and enables them to build skills to deal with these challenges—whether in the workplace, synagogue, school, summer camp, or wherever their rabbinic career takes them.

We have already raised over $178,000 toward our $200,000 goal, which will be equally split between the two schools. With your help on Giving Tuesday, we can achieve our goal.

Giving Tuesday donations are appreciated any time during the month of November through December 31, 2024.  We’re grateful for your generosity, thank you!

“The spiritual, educational and emotional well-being of the students we support at both the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies is what encouraged me to chair our Creating New Spaces campaign. The knowledge that we are ensuring that the students at JTS have a place to come together for Shabbat and every day in a warm atmosphere that promotes community is so vital to their experience. And, across the country at Ziegler, it gives me great comfort that we are part of a movement enhancing awareness of gender bias in our synagogues and communities. It is important to me that we sustain programs in both locations in ways that we will benefit from in years to come.”

—Carol S. Simon, Torah Fund Creating New Spaces Chair, Past WLCJ International President and Consultant

“I am proud to continue my support for our special project, Spaces. By donating you provide the Jewish Theological Seminary community with a state-of-the-art open and airy Women’s League Study Space, and you also help Ziegler School rabbinical students study interpersonal relationships in the Women’s League Institute on Gender Bias and Harassment. With your contributions we help ensure the future of Conservative/Masorti education and Judaism.”

—Lori Snow, International Torah Fund Chair

“I appreciate the opportunity to donate to the Creating New Spaces campaign, which addresses the unique needs of both the Jewish Theological Seminary in providing the Women’s League Study Space and in funding the Institute on Gender Bias and Harassment at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. In addition to scholarships funded by the general Am Yisrael Chai campaign, this special campaign enriches the lives of students we support physically, intellectually and spiritually. It’s very satisfying to see these tangible results of our targeted contributions.”
