September 30, 2024
NEW YORK, NY – The Board of Trustees of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) has elected two new members: Zachary Goldman and Risë Norman.
“As we approach the Jewish new year, we are pleased to welcome two distinguished professionals to our Board of Trustees,” said Chancellor Shuly Rubin Schwartz. “Zachary Goldman and Risë Norman have rich backgrounds in law and are both experts in their respective fields. I look forward to their contributions to the Board of Trustees.”
Zachary Goldman is a Partner at WilmerHale. He has extensive experience working on complex regulatory and enforcement matters related to OFAC sanctions, anti-money laundering (AML), and financial crime risk management issues. Mr. Goldman is also a co-chair of WilmerHale’s Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Working Group.
Before joining WilmerHale, Mr. Goldman was the executive director at New York University School of Law’s Center on Law and Security (CLS) and an adjunct professor of law, teaching courses on national security law and cybersecurity. While there, he built CLS into a leading global research center focused on national security law, testified before US Congress and foreign parliaments on financial sanctions, and developed a first-of-its-kind interdisciplinary master’s degree in cybersecurity. Mr. Goldman also co-founded NYU’s Center for Cybersecurity. He previously served as a special assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Chairman’s Action Group, and as a policy advisor at the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes, where he focused on terrorist financing and Iran counterproliferation sanctions.
Risë Norman is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the Firm’s Corporate Department, where she represents a broad range of corporations, investment banks, and other financial institutions engaged in capital markets transactions. She sits on the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School, was the Area Enrollment Director for the Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Lawyers Division of the UJA-Federation. Ms. Norman was recently honored as “Debt Capital Markets Lawyer of the Year” at the 2021 Americas Women in Business Law Awards and has been named a recommended lawyer by The Legal 500 United States for her capital markets work.
