Policy on Maintenance of Public Order

JTS values the right of members of the JTS community to express their individual views and register dissent. At the same time, JTS is committed to defend the right of each member of its community to carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities without interference: students to attend classes, faculty members to teach classes, JTS offices and departments to hold special events or activities, and administrators and staff to do their respective jobs. Accordingly, the following conduct is prohibited at JTS:

  1. To willfully cause physical injury to another person, or threaten to do so;
  2. To physically restrain or intimidate any other person;
  3. To remove anyone from any place where the individual is authorized to remain;
  4. To willfully damage, deface or destroy property on the JTS campus;
  5. To remove property from the JTS campus without necessary authorization;
  6. To use the JTS campus or property without necessary authorization;
  7. To enter into any private office of an administrative officer, member of the faculty or staff member without permission;
  8. To enter into and remain in any JTS building for any purpose other than its authorized uses or in such manner as to obstruct its authorized use;
  9. To remain in any JTS building after it is closed without authorization;
  10. To refuse to leave a JTS building after being instructed to do so by an administrative officer, faculty, staff member or other authorized agent of JTS;
  11. To obstruct the free movement of people in any place to which these rules apply;
  12. To deliberately interfere with, disrupt or prevent the peaceful and orderly conduct of classes, studies, lectures and meetings at JTS;
  13. To deliberately interfere with, disrupt or prevent the freedom of any person to express his or her views, including invited speakers at JTS;
  14. To knowingly have in his or her possession upon the premises to which these rules apply, any rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver, or other firearm or weapon;
  15. To willfully incite or assist others to commit any of the acts prohibited in this policy with the specific intent to induce them to do so; or
  16. To take any action or create any situation that involves the forced consumption of liquor or drugs for any purpose of initiation into or affiliation with any organization.

Any member of the JTS community who has violated these rules may be subject to suspension, expulsion, termination or other appropriate disciplinary action pursuant to JTS policies. Any individual who has violated these rules may be subject to immediate ejection from college property. JTS reserves the right to refer any violations of this policy to local law enforcement.
