Tamara Neuman

As Director of Convenings, Dr. Tamara Neuman oversees and manages the planning and execution of JTS convenings, symposia, and public events that showcase JTS in the broader community. Her responsibilities include both managing live programs, as well as disseminating the intellectual products of these events to the wider community. She has a rich background in anthropology and extensive experience in educating and convening diverse audiences on Jewish, Israeli, and Middle East issues.
Dr. Neuman has worked in project management, program building, and community outreach, most recently serving as a research scholar for the Middle East Institute at Columbia University. She also served as a visiting assistant professor and Jewish Studies program director at Davidson College in North Carolina, a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Jordan, and a Regional Faculty Fellow at the Wolf Humanities Forum at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Neuman holds a PhD and MA in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Chicago and a BA in Anthropology and Classics and Oriental Studies (CLORS) from Brandeis University.
