Between the Lines: Inside Jewish Day Schools
Part of Between the Lines: Author Conversations from The Library of JTS
Dr. Jack Wertheimer, professor of American Jewish history at JTS, co-authored with Alex Pomson the new book Inside Jewish Day Schools: Leadership, Learning, and Community, which seeks to demystify Jewish day schools. His book talk addresses a number of questions: What revolutionary changes characterize current Jewish day schools as compared to those of the 20th century? What do we know about the impact of day school education? Why is day school education so costly? And why do American Jews have a far lower rate of Jewish day school enrollment compared to nearly every other western Jewish community?
